# Global Search

> Find contacts, agents and knowledge bases from anywhere in the app.

**Global Search** finds contacts, agents and knowledge bases in your account from any page.

1. Click **Global Search** at the top of the sidebar.
2. Start typing - a contact's name or phone number, or the name of an agent or knowledge base. Results appear as you type, best matches first. Scroll down to load more.
3. Click a result, or press Enter to open the highlighted one.

What each result opens:

* **Contact**: The contact's page in its agent. The result shows the contact's name, phone number and the agent it belongs to.
* **Agent**: The agent.
* **Knowledge base**: The knowledge base.
* **Subaccount**: In a main account, your subaccounts show up too. The result opens the subaccount's settings page.

Archived contacts, and contacts of archived agents, are included and marked with an archive icon.

When you open Global Search again, the results of your last search are listed under **Recent** until you reload the page. Press Esc or click outside the window to close it.

  Global Search finds contacts, agents and knowledge bases only in the account you're in. To find them in a subaccount, [switch to it](/documentation/agencies/managing-subaccounts#switch-between-accounts) first.
