# Audio

> Preview voices, clone your own voices and upload background sounds for your agents.

The **Audio** page holds the voices and background sounds your agents can use. Open it from **Resources** > **Audio** in the sidebar. It's available to admins.

## Voices

The **Voices** tab lists the built-in voices together with the voices you added, with their **Gender** and **Languages**. Use **Search Voices** to find a voice by name.

</Frame>

* **Preview**: Click the play button next to a voice. A player opens at the bottom of the page - change the **Phrase** to hear the voice say your own text, and press Enter to play it again.
* **Edit**: Open the `⋯` menu of a voice you added and choose **Edit** to change its name, gender, languages and voice settings.
* **Delete**: Open the `⋯` menu and choose **Delete**, then confirm. This can't be undone.

Built-in voices can't be changed or deleted.

<Warning>
  Deleting a voice doesn't check whether an agent uses it. Switch those agents to another voice first.
</Warning>

### Clone a Voice

1. Click `Create voice`.
2. Enter a **Voice name** - at least 5 characters.
3. Choose the **Provider** and the voice's gender.
4. Under **Audio files**, drag in your voice samples or click **browse**. The upload area shows what the selected provider needs - for the default provider, 1 to 10 MP3 or WAV files of up to 11 MB each.
5. Leave **Supports all languages** on to offer the voice for every language its provider supports, or turn it off and pick the **Languages**.
6. Optionally, open **Voice settings** to fine-tune the voice, for example its **Speed**. **Reset to defaults** brings back the recommended values.
7. In a main account, turn on **Also create for sub-accounts** to add a copy of the voice to each of your [subaccounts](/documentation/agencies/managing-subaccounts). Each copy is separate, and subaccounts you create later don't get it.
8. Click `Create voice`. The dialog closes when the voice is ready.

<Note>
  Only clone voices you have the right to use.
</Note>

### Use a Voice in an Agent

Open the agent, click **Agent** in the editor header and pick the voice under **Voice**. The list shows the voices available for the agent's language, grouped into female and male voices. See [Voice and Conversation](/documentation/build-your-agent/agent-setup#voice-and-conversation).

## Background Sounds

Built-in background sounds are always available to your agents. The **Background Sounds** tab lists the sounds you upload yourself.

To upload a sound:

1. Open the **Background Sounds** tab and click `Upload sound`.
2. Enter a **Name**, for example *Cafe ambience*.
3. Drag in an MP3 file or click **browse**. The file can be up to 10 MB and between 30 seconds and 5 minutes long.
4. Confirm that you own the recording or are allowed to use it commercially.
5. Click `Upload`.

</Frame>

Click the play button next to a sound to listen to it. Its `⋯` menu lets you **Rename** or **Delete** it - deleting a sound also removes it from any agent that uses it. Uploaded sounds belong to the account you upload them to.

To play a sound behind an agent's voice, open the agent, click **Agent** and choose it under **Background Soundscape**, then set the **Background volume level**. Background sounds work only for calls made through a SIP integration.
