# Overview

> Learn how to create and manage AI-powered text campaigns across SMS and messaging platforms using Callers.

## What Are Text Campaigns?

Text campaigns extend Callers' AI capabilities beyond voice calls into text-based messaging channels. With text campaigns, your AI agents can engage contacts through **SMS** and **messaging platforms** such as WhatsApp - delivering the same intelligent, script-driven conversations your voice campaigns provide, but over text.

Text campaigns are ideal for scenarios where contacts prefer asynchronous communication, where regulations limit voice outreach, or where you want to complement your calling strategy with a multi-channel approach.

## How Text Campaigns Work

1. **Create a Campaign** - Click the text icon on the toggle when starting a new campaign from the workflow tab.
2. **Build Your Script** - Design the conversation flow using the script builder. Each step defines what the AI agent sends and how it responds to contact replies.
3. **Connect a Channel** - Link a messaging provider (Twilio, Telnyx, or WhatsApp) from the channels section on the top right to send and receive messages.
4. **Upload Contacts** - Add your contact list, just like a voice campaign.
5. **Launch** - Start the campaign. The AI agent initiates conversations and handles replies automatically.

## Getting Started

    Connect your messaging provider through the [App Center](/documentation/integrations/app-center). Set up [Twilio](/documentation/text-campaigns/twilio-sms), [Telnyx](/documentation/text-campaigns/telnyx-sms), or [WhatsApp](/documentation/text-campaigns/whatsapp) to enable text messaging.
