# Notifications

> See in-app alerts when agents start or stop, run low on contacts, miss variables, or when a phone number is flagged as spam.

Notifications tell you when something needs your attention, for example when an agent stops, runs out of contacts to call, or one of your phone numbers is flagged as spam. They appear in the Callers dashboard for your account.

## View notifications

Click **Notifications** (the bell) in the sidebar. A dot shows when you have unread notifications.

* Click a notification to mark it as read. Notifications that mention an agent link to it.
* Click **Mark all as read** to clear the unread count.

Each notification is marked as success, info, warning, or error, so you can scan for problems quickly.

## Notification types

Every notification appears in the **Notifications** panel (the bell in the sidebar).

| Notification | When it fires | Where it shows |
| - | - | - |
| **Agent activated** | Someone starts an agent. Shows who started it. | Notifications panel, marked success. Links to the agent. |
| **Agent deactivated** | An agent stops, either because someone stopped it (shows who) or for a system reason (shows the reason). | Notifications panel, marked info. Links to the agent. |
| **Activation failed** / **Deactivation failed** | An agent couldn't be started or stopped. Shows the error. | Notifications panel, marked error. Links to the agent. |
| **No pending contacts** | An outbound agent has no contacts left to call. | Notifications panel, marked warning. Links to the agent. |
| **Low pending contacts** | Fewer than 20% of an outbound agent's contacts are still waiting to be called (New or Pending retry). Sent at most once every 4 hours per agent. | Notifications panel, marked warning. Links to the agent. |
| **Missing variables** | Contacts are missing values for variables that the agent's script requires. Lists the missing variables. | Notifications panel, marked warning. Links to the agent. |
| **Forwarded call unanswered** | A call transfer from an agent wasn't answered. | Notifications panel, marked warning. Links to the agent. |
| **Phone number flagged as spam** | A phone number used by an agent has been flagged as spam. Shows the number. | Notifications panel, marked warning. Links to the agent. |
| **WhatsApp template approved** | WhatsApp approved a message template you submitted. Shows the template name. | Notifications panel, marked success. |

What to do about each one:

* **Agent deactivated** unexpectedly: check the reason shown, for example no contacts left to call.
* **Activation or deactivation failed**: fix the error shown, then try again.
* **No or low pending contacts**: upload more contacts so calling doesn't stop. See [Uploading contacts](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/using-callers/uploading-contacts.md).
* **Missing variables**: add the missing columns to your contacts, or mark the variables as not required. See [Variables](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/build-your-agent/agent-variables.md).
* **Forwarded call unanswered**: check that the transfer destination is staffed. See [Call transfers](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/voice/call-transfers.md).
* **Phone number flagged as spam**: replace or rest the number. See [Phone numbers and caller ID](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/contacts/phone-numbers-and-caller-id.md).
* **WhatsApp template approved**: the template is ready to use. See [WhatsApp](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/text-agents/whatsapp.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Agents were called campaigns in earlier versions of Callers, so some notification text still says "Campaign".

## Get alerts outside the dashboard

In-app notifications appear only in the dashboard. To send events to other tools:

* **Slack.** Connect Slack in the App Center to post agent updates to a channel. See [Slack](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/integrations/slack.md).
* **Webhooks.** Send call and conversation events to your own systems. See [Webhooks](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/webhook/advanced-webhook.md).
* **Usage limits on subaccounts.** Agencies can turn on **Send notification** for a subaccount's outbound usage limit. See [Managing subaccounts](https://docs.callers.ai/documentation/agencies/managing-subaccounts.md#limits).
